Towards the end of the fight he was clearly behind on points, like brook but in fairness he has to cut massive weight to make welterweight I think largely due to the fact he lacks KO power (for someone who is significantly larger than most opponents his KO record isn't amazing) so he fatigues in later rounds which clearly showed tonight.

If he moves up a weight the power difference gets worse. if I was him set up a big fight with Khan than retire and perhaps look at becoming a coach as seems to have a decent boxing brain.

Well could add he seems to take a fair while to recover, but if you look at the positives:

-adapted how he boxed and figured out how to counter vlads jab and footwork
-has more then enough stamina, especially after getting put down
-carries power to the end of the fight
-seems to be one of the few boxers who realise when they are down on points and need to go for the kill.

Also think it showed and hoped he learned how he needs 100% focus so he doesn't get caught. And curious as not sure he showed great ability to finish. End of fight was different as think he was going for the kill from the start as knew he was down on points. But was very sloppy after flooring Vlad early in the fight.

Appreciate the alternative point of view, TBH disagree but then again imagine will never know. Before the "injury" thought it was a fair fight and TBH think bellew proved a lot. first time I couldn't be happier to see someone get millions for a nights work, but deserved it.

But main point is don't really like current trends in boxing. Think trainers/promoters are abusing their position and the cultural (will to win/heart is most important) blinds out the reality of things. Seem to have boxers making money out of being put in dangerous situations such as Audley Harrison and Amir Khan, who are constantly being brutally KO'd so people can cash in. Sounds harsh but towards end of his career Harrison was allowed to consistently be in fights where he'd be KO badly for a quick buck, allowing promoters/fighters etc to make quick money with serious risk.

This is incredible dangerous, look at Khan, his whole career is based solely on people wanting to see him fail. That Sergio fight was a joke and best thing was he wasn't seriously hurt. The alternative was the negative backlash Kell Brooks corner got for doing their job against GGG.

Their corner isn't their for just tactical advice and healing wounds, their primary job is to look after the well being of their fighter. Boxers have irrational desire to keep going and their corner is meant to look after them, just seems to many are more worried about keeping the cash train going than making sure the train isn't derailed.

{Ed001's Note - I am not disagreeing, just saying that, in this case, Haye talked the talk about hurting Bellew and deserved everything he got. In the main though, boxing is a sport in turmoil and there are a lot of problems. This is not new though, there are many times boxers have got addicted to the beatings and continued many years after they should have had their license taken away.}

Am I the only who thinks that the injury ruined the fight entirely? Before it was actually interesting as I didn't have a clear winner to that point, haye was clearly the better skilled/powerful fighter - but bellew had a very good plan executed well.

Will admit I'm wrong but after the injury my personal opinion:

- after injury should clearly have been stopped, by official or corner Haye was in no shape to compete and had no hope of winning. he wasn't KO'd he was unable to stand due to injury.
- Full respect to why Bellew carried on as he said "I've secured my families future" and tbh fully respect carrying out something I doubt he felt comfortable with to do.
- Although Haye showed heart how is hobbling along on a clearly injured leg in hopes of landing a punch you can't throw a positive thing - get he didn't want to quit but if my mate broke his leg than wanted to prove himself by walking to the hospital. he's an idiot
- finally why is this being praised as a huge upset? Get it is but he won because Haye was clearly injured by an accident. that's it. Truth is had a guy literally on one leg and couldn't actually KO him. Admit I got the result wrong but if Bellew would've followed his plan (which was working) and defeated a fully fit David Haye by will, intelligence and clever boxing than it would have been a truly great moment in boxing.

But what we got was everyone involved caring more about a big upset than actually looking after people who compete in a highly dangerous sport. Haye clearly was in no shape what so ever to be in a ring and yet we cheered as someone who comes across as genuinely nice had to continue to assault an essentially disabled man to secure his families well being.

Sorry but this fragrant irresponsibility isn't acceptable. We rightly got upset when Nick Blackwell was seriously injured and don't see how this wasn't a possible outcome tonight. If he had the power to do what he tried would have seen a fully fit fighter knock a man unconscious who couldn't defend himself and was a sitting duck.

{Ed001's Note - the problem is that Haye has done this before, feigning injury. Boy that cried wolf. I doubt there was anything really wrong with him, other than that he knew he was getting beat. I said to the other editors before the fight that he would bottle it as soon as he realised he wasn't going to win and develop an 'injury'. Guy is a fake.}

TBH they have to sell the fight as otherwise most people wouldn't watch it. Personally find all the disrespectful stuff stupid and haye in particular to be embarrassing (the klitchko stuff and constantly calling AJ out because he's beaten nobodies etc). Best example is AJs remark regarding his fight, they don't have to do this cause people already want to see it.

Really want bellew to win.but see haye winning convincingly. Look at the khan and Kell Brook stepping up weight classes. Think people forget how someone being 15-20 pounds heavier effects when they are professional athletes! Haye took hits from klitchko and other giants fine, don't see bellew having the power to hurt him whilst haye stunned what ever that ogre he fought was called.
