Roger Mayweather has died.

He was only 58.

Sad news mate.

I've just seen this on BT Sports boxing youtube channel. Very sad news, but at least he doesn't have to suffer any more. Rest in Peace.

Terrible (but sadly predictable) result in Liverpool tonight. No way Smith won that fight. Ryder bossed it.

Didn't watch, but I followed it on the Sky Sports website on my phone. Reading what they were saying each round, then seeing the scorecards was a bit confusing. Sky were saying that it was a really close fight and that Maklin had Ryder 1 up by the final bell. Yet all the scorecards were a big margin for Smith.

Smith will never fight at 168 again based on that performance. I like him but he was awful last night. Ryder won easily. Giving Smith 5 rounds was generous. 9 was just plain corrupt. One of the worst decisions I have seen for years. The corruption in boxing is sickening. You'll see it again in two weeks. If AJ stays on his feet for 12 rounds he will win no matter what. Ruiz will have to knock him out to get a draw.

I had it 117-117, couldn't spilt them. I scored 6 rounds 10 10 to both fighters, was such a close fight but them 10 10 rounds could have went either way then it looks like a wide margin. Good scrap.

Interesting reading the scorecards for Canelo v Kovalev. Dave Moretti had Canelo 6-1 up after seven rounds. Canelo did what everyone expected and finished it with a great combination.

I really don't see him going back to 160 now, but if he does he'll be vulnerable. I think 168 is a better weight for for him, unless he wants to stay at 175 and fight the likes of Beterbiev. Not sure that's a fight he'll be in a rush to make.

Fighting Kovalev was a calculated risk, he was seen on the slide and weakest of the current champions at 175. there's too much risk for canelo staying at 175 and fighting Bivol or Beterbiev, he already has the belt and they r not big enough names yet. He mentioned the possibility of stepping up again to cruiserweight, although there are no stand out names in that division so imo he would only be doing that for another belt, but I can't see it happening. Imo he will step down again to super middleweight, Callum Smith is not big enough name yet so I don't think he will get the shot. I think the exposure Billy joe Saunders will get from fighting on the under card of these two YouTubers next week will put him favourite to meet canelo next.

2.) 03 Nov 2019 21:14:45
I agree Roro. As Andre Ward said this was Kovalev but not Krusher. Saunders would be a great fight. I’d like to see that in England, but I doubt it’ll happen there. I think Callum Smith will be at 175 before long.

3.) 04 Nov 2019 12:35:41
I don't think canelo is leaving Vegas any time soon mate. Agree with Smith stepping up soon.

4.) 08 Nov 2019 20:07:12
Watched the fight back 3 times, and I'm still miffed at the score cards.
Kovalev is done as an elite fighter.

I have it 114-113 to Golovkin, but I wouldn't be surprised if the judges give it to Derevyanchenko. A very close fight that clearly shows just how much Golovkin has slipped. A trilogy fight with Canelo would be pointless now. I think Canelo will stop him if that happens.

1.) 06 Oct 2019 09:56:42
I had it 115-112 Golovkin, but yes it really wasa close fight that could have gone either way.

2.) 06 Oct 2019 14:45:26
Fancied derevyancheko to win on points even backed him at 6/ 1. Was close fight but had GGG 115-112. Agree with Rian Canelo would destroy GGG now and a 3rd fight is pointless.

3.) 06 Oct 2019 21:41:59
Canelo doesn’t stop GGG even now, his chin is out of this world. Canelo would win on points but we already know as long as the fight goes to the cards Canelo gets the win regardless of if he actually won the fight. GGG would have to stop canelo to win and that wouldn’t happen so a trilogy is pointless either way.

4.) 07 Oct 2019 16:28:54
On Golovkin's performance on Saturday night imo, Billy joe and Demetrius both outbox him for 12 rounds and canelo stops him. Undecided about charlo, he's untested.

5.) 07 Oct 2019 18:43:38
I don't think Andrade is that good tbh Roro. BJS definitely outboxes him - but he's at Super-middleweight now and I'm unsure he'll be able to get back down to middleweight as he likes to balloon up in weight between fights.

He was a remarkable man. He had a big part in bringing Ali to Dublin in '72. He'll be sorely missed.

No, only you’ll remember him that way.

Most people will remember he was a world champion, who defended it a few times, and also lost a very close s/ d against an unbeaten Frampton, and broke an unbeaten Valdez’s jaw.

I think Smith has nothing left to give at 168.

Are you talking about the same Callum Smith who was gifted a decision against John Ryder? He’s hanging in there at 168 for the Canelo fight and then after he gets beaten he will say it’s too hard to make 168 I have to move up to 175.

Canelo will beat him by a wide points margin or a late stoppage. If it was at 175 I’d give him a better chance. But he’ll be well beaten by Canelo.

He was awful against Ryder. Easy work for Canelo.

Like Broner he has great talent but his lifestyle means we will never see him completely fulfill his promise.
