Talk of VAR being introduced into boxing after what happened in the charlie Edwards vs Julio Cesar Martinez fight at the weekend. I suppose it could work and is a good idea but like how VAR is being used in football I suspect it will only add to the confusion. They will prob make up new rules to go along with it that no1 has a clue about.

On a side note, Edward's was a lucky boy on Saturday, actually was embarrassed for him on the ground crying then once he heard it was ruled as a non contest he was up laughing and jumping around. He will not have the rematch imo.

I suppose it would be good for determining intentional headbutts, low blows and the like Roro.

If used in the right way it could be very beneficial for the sport. I would also like to see something introduced to overturn bias and poor judging. Both at amateur and professional level. But tbh I would much rather prefer that all the commissions got together to stop the ped problem that boxing has.

Only if it's used for determining whether a finishing blow is legal - if it's disputed. There are two examples I can think of. Ward vs Kovalev 2 could have been ruled a no contest, as you could argue that Wards finishing shots were a little low.
Fury vs Cunningham could have been a disqualification win for Cunningham, as Fury put his left glove over the face of Cunningham, obstructing his view, which is an illegal punch.

I don't want VAR to be used when a fighter just asks for it mid round. I don't want to see every single rabbit punch being called out, as fighters will play up to it even more than some do now.
I think you could potentially have a panel back stage, watching the fights and during the breaks double checking for any consistent fouling, then giving the referee the information when the round is about to begin, so warnings/ point deductions can be handed out. Not for things like holding, as the referee can see that very clearly. But things like consistent use of the shoulder or elbow, stepping on a fighters feet, headbutting, etc.

I thought that there was already an accidental foul rule in boxing? Plenty of fights and fighters have had the decision of their matchup changed after due to injury or mistake by referee, usually the fight is declared a no contest or technical draw.

VAR does not take out the human temptation to cheat, fighters who r getting outclassed will use this to try and get their bout stopped, first clash of heads or boarder line low blow will give them the opportunity to pull out and insist VAR rules the fight a non contest.

VAR will not change the shocking scoring and judging we witness at a lot of fights, we will still get terrible decisions like the ones we seen from Adelaide Byrd and Cj Ross recently.

Boxing imo would be better suited trying to clean the sport up first of corruption and drug cheats.
