A statement from the WBC in an article from Skysports

"The World Boxing Council conducted a voting through the board of governors, which resulted in a unanimous agreement to sanction a direct rematch between WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury.

Wilder and Fury gave boxing one of the best fights in the heavyweight division in a long time, which has created tremendous popular demand for the fans to see a rematch.

The WBC is happy to confirm that a direct rematch has been approved and will create in a ruling which will also consider the mandatory status of the division.

I wish to once again congratulate Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury for their great battle inside the ring and for the exemplary sportsmanship after the bout. "

Wilder says he will improve but nothing in his previous fights have shown me he’s any better than He Was the other night, fury will only improve. If Chisora beats whyte where does this leave AJ and Hearn for April? Fury and wilder both out, Usyk not ready. Only really leaves Miller or my preferred option Pulev, only because of what hsf said about him B4. Both not great options imo?

Pulev would be an ugly as you like fight, with AJ breaking him in around 4 rounds. So I think we can rule that out for now.

Miller's contract is up with DAZN after he fought some romanian cab driver. I think his actual focus is on the WBA regular title, which is about right for someone like him.

Usyk would no doubt step in, but he'd want to be paid huuuuuuuge money for the fight this early. I think Usyk is looking at either the loser of Whyte vs Chisora for his first fight at HW, or maybe even Breazeal, as he'll be waiting around for Fury (who will win the rematch) until December 2019.

I think perhaps Ortiz may get drafted in, assuming Whyte loses to Chisora.
Who knows, maybe if Chisora wins it's because he put on a really good, dominant performance and sleeps Whyte between rounds 5 and 8. If it's a complete slug fest or a lucky punch (like against Takam) then I won't see the appeal.

My guess is it's Joshua vs Whyte II, or Joshua vs Ortiz if Whyte loses to Chisora.
Looking over the rankings, these would be other "ranked" options.

IBF: Kubrat Pulev, Agit Kabayal, Otto Wallin.
WBO: Bryant Jennings, Tom Schwarz, Jarrell Miller.
WBA: Trevor Bryan, Jarrell Miller, Fres Oquendo (wtf really?! ), Manuel Charr (WBA regular) .

Meh. Lol.

I agree hsf prob will be ortiz, might not be a bad fight. there's no1 really jumping out on the rankings that would be any better of a fight than ortiz.
I think whoever eddie hearn puts on the undercard of Whyte vs Chisora is in with a shout for April, big price? Lol fight would sell.

Fury should have been awarded the fight never mind a rematch.

I agree James 100% but there’s no point worrying yourself over it. Like I said before the fight anyone who thinks that it was a given that Tyson would win on a points decision were really selling themselves short or not watched boxing bouts in America much! It’s not even conspiracy anymore. And although I don’t agree with the result I do believe it’s optimistic to say the least to think you can go to America for the wbc heaveyweight title and get floored twice to no reply and the second time a show real knock down and expect to bring the title home. As much as a boxing brain and ability fury has he was foolish to not just keep wilder at bay (which he could have easily done) knowing a KO was wilders only option. But now all that’s left is to praise his ability to get off the canvas and bitch about a Roberery in America ( didn’t you realise before Tyson! Really? ) anyway after the fight I couldn’t give wilder a hope in hell in a rematch unless he just goes out swinging from the bell and hope he does the job before he gases. Anyway we really need a three way between AJ, Wilder and Fury as was pointed out above and regardless of how people think the heavyweight division is alight again no other bouts hold much interest or point!

I must correct my original post, it seems they haven't ordered a rematch, but they have sanctioned one.
What this means is that Wilder has the "option" of a rematch and the WBC won't stand in his way. However, he can go and fight Breazeale without any WBC reprecussions. I'm not sure whether he can fight anyone outside of his mandatory or the rematch though.

Why would i be worrying about guys who earn millions? I'm just a boxing fan who knows a fix when i see one.

There has been plenty of close decisions in America that have gone the way of the British fighter, Brook vs porter, Hatton vs Collazo, Degale vs Dirrell to name a few. It’s just the luck of the draw with what judges you get, some are a lot better than others.

I agree roro but the operative word was close. It wasn’t really close. But like I say there’s no point fixating on it, fury never got the win, I’m sure he will next time unless he looses the plot again. And in fairness I think the governing body’s should clamp down on people who take lots of drugs then cry for mental health, it goes with the territory.

I'm not talking about the Fury fight mate. I'm just pointing out that a fighter can still get a fair decision in America.
